Biathlon – Learn to Compete

FOCUS: Training and racing
A complete year-round training and racing biathlon program for athletes aged 14 and older who have completed the Train to Train program or reached a comparable level of skiing and training. The program provides biathletes the opportunity to develop their skiing and shooting skills with physical conditioning, shooting education and proper skiing techniques.

The Junior Racing program follows Biathlon Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model. The program also promotes goal setting that may eventually lead athletes to be selected to the Alberta Biathlon Team. The Junior Racing Team will travel and compete at the National Championships, Alberta Winter Games, Western Canadian Championships, and the Calforex Cup Series. Special events and camps offered throughout the year for an additional fee.

DATES: Year-round, starts May 1st
TIMES: Learn to Compete (LC): After school program and weekend program for 14-15 year olds.
About 125 training sessions per year , not including camps (approx. 3 times a week, depending on the season)
COST: $1,900 + GST
OTHER COST: waxing deposit, rollerski rental (if needed), club membership, all expenses at camps/races, CCC insurance, BWTC gym pass.
COACHING: Rachel Koroscil, Learn to Train certified  coach.

FOCUS: Training and racing

A complete year-round training and racing biathlon program for athletes aged 14 and older who have completed the Train to Train program or reached a comparable level of skiing and training. The program provides biathletes the opportunity to develop their skiing and shooting skills with physical conditioning, shooting education and proper skiing techniques.

Advanced program for athletes that have chosen biathlon as their main sport. The program may lead skiers to be selected to the Alberta Ski Team or National Junior Team.

TIMES: After school program and weekend program for 14-17/18 year olds. 190 training sessions per year (about 4-5 sessions per week, depending on the season)
COST: $2,700 + GST + biathlon specific expenses (ammunition, …)
OTHER COST: Waxing deposit, rollerski rental (if needed), rifle rental, ammunition, club membership, all expenses at camps/races, CCC insurance, BWTC gym pass, CNC range pass
