Olympic Trip Jan 20th, 2010

By: Sam Groeneveld

So one night I was sitting at home reading my social text book, and a man from Biathlon Alberta, named Andy called me, he started talking to me and he said "I take it you didn't get my e-mail" and I had not received any e-mail from Biathlon Alberta. Andy started talking to my dad, and my dad suddenly had a big smile on his face.

At first I didn't know what to think but then my dad whispered to me that we were going to the Olympics. When my father got of the phone he said that Biathlon Alberta had done a draw in my category and me and a girl from Camrose had won a trip to the Olympics. On February 22nd I will drive to Calgary and meet the other winner of the Olympic trip and we will fly out to Vancouver. When we arrive in Vancouver we will be driven to our hotel somewhere in Vancouver and we will stay there for 3 days.

I get to take the Alberta Train from my hotel and ride the train to the race site. I will watch the women's biathlon relay I also get to see some sort of cultural event but I don't know what it is yet. Also the good thing is that I don't have to pay a cent. The Government of Alberta has funded my trip so it free. I feel that I will learn a lot from going to the Olympics and I am really exited.
