The season is just getting better and better for Joel Pacas and Melanie Schultz.
This past week a small team of CNSC biathletes travelled out to La Patrie Que. for Youth and Junior team trials. It was a great week of competition and in the end Joel Pacas had qualified 2nd overall for the National Team. The competition this year in the Youth and Junior mens categories was fience, it required seriously fast skiing and accurate shooting. Joel skied well and shot 85% average for the weeks competitions. It was excellent shooting, especially considering the pressure from what was on the line. Joel is now on his way to Torsby Sweden for the Junior World Championships!
Two other CNSC biathletes attended trials and raced well, Beau Thompson ended up a solid 6th overall in the Junior Mens category, while Andrew Chisholm finished 8th overall in a big Youth Men category.
Another CNSC biathlete, Melanie Schultz, is having a season that continues to get better and better. Last week Melanie recieved word from Geret Coyne (National Team womens coach) that due to her recent results at Olympic trials would have the opporunity to attend the next set of World Cup races in Germany and Italy. In her first world cup race, under the lights, last friday night and in front of over 30,000 fans she anchored the relay team to a 16th place finish. CNSC's Rosanna Crawford was also on the relay team, putting in an impressive clean and quick shooting performance.
You can follow Joel, Melanie and Rosanna's results at www.biathlonworld.com. Joels first race in Torsby is Jan 27th and Melanie and Rosanna's next race is on January 20th in Antholz, Italy. All athletes will be racing an individual format.
