25 Canmore Nordic Ski club athletes, age 11 - 13, traveled to Joliette, Quebec for the 15th edition of the Youth Noram Championships. The event took place over 3 days and included over 15 Nordic Ski Clubs from Canada and the U.S. The first day was a 3.5km skate race in which CNSC placed 17 athletes in the top 10. The second day was a 3.5km classic race with CNSC placing 16 athletes in the top 10. The CNSC won the overall points banner, knocking the eastern power house clubs Skibec, Mount St. Anne, and Nakkertock, the reigning champion, off the top spot. The 6 person relay team on the last day also saw CNSC taking gold. The winning relay team consisted of Peter Hicks, Reed Godfrey, Carly Holland in classic and Nicola Davies, Molly Jane Strum and Luke Praught in skating. There were many outstanding performances by the whole team. In fields of up to 45 athletes per one year age categories, it felt like a "senior national " event for these young skiers. Medals were won in the individual events by Peter Hicks (2 bronze) Molly Jane Strum (2 golds), Jessica Kuzik (2 silver) Kennedy Howatt (1 bronze), Reed Godfrey (1 gold, 1 bronze), Ty Godfrey (1 bronze). The CNSC athletes attended the Youth Norams as part of a SEVEC exchange with the Chlesea Nordiq ski club. The athletes made many new friends that will be remembered for years to come. The CNSC could not have done it without the support and energy of the Chelsea Nordique ski club. The team was lead by head coach Kathy Davies, and supported by Roy Strum and Phil Wood.
