Canmore Nordic Ski Club has adapted the Long Term Athlete Development national model for all programs:

Below is an overview and a short description of all programs we offer.

Racing Programs

Youth Racing – Biathlon & Cross Country – Train to Train (T2)

Racing program for athletes aged 12 and 13. The focus of the Train to Train program is the continued development of overall fitness and ski specific skills.

Junior Racing – Biathlon – Learn to Compete (LC)

This program provides skiers the opportunity to develop their physical conditioning, skiing technique, biathlon shooting, in a training and racing environment. This program is aimed at athletes that do more than one sport or are not ready, available, or interested in training for xc skiing/biathlon consistently.

Junior Racing – Biathlon – Learn to Compete Plus  (LC+)

Advanced program for athletes that have chosen biathlon as their main sport. The program may lead skiers to be selected to the Alberta Ski Team or National Junior Team.

Junior Racing – Cross Country – Learn to Compete (LC)

This program provides skiers the opportunity to develop their physical conditioning, skiing technique, in a training and racing environment. This program is aimed at athletes that do more than one sport or are not ready, available, or interested in training for xc skiing consistently.

Adult Programs

Adult Training Program (Fall and Winter)

This is an expansion of the Adult Recreational Ski lessons. This program is open to adult men and women that focuses on technique development for the intermediate to advanced skier with a format that combines skill improvement with fitness and coaching. Sessions run on Wednesday mornings.

Adult Recreational Ski Lessons (Winter)

A ten week program open to men and women divided into two 5-week sessions. This program gives the participants the skills to enjoy the great ski trails around the Canmore Nordic Centre and beyond. Sessions run on Wednesday morning or evening.[/twocol_one]

Adult Biathlon Recreational Program (Winter)

Learn to shoot a 22 caliber rifle on biathlon targets and get fitness too!

Kids / Youth Programs

JackRabbit Program (Winter)

For kids aged 4 to 10. This nationally supported program promotes the fundamental development of ski skills in a fun-filled environment. The objective is for children to learn basic cross-country ski skills (both classic and skating) and to instill a lifelong interest in the sport.

Adventure Club (Fall and Winter)

This one day/week adventure based program is for 12-15 year olds. The goal of this program is for participants to have fun and improve their technique on their cross-country skis both on and off the groomed trails.

Track Attack (Fall and Winter)

For skiers 9-11 years of age who have completed level 4 Jackrabbit program or reached a comparable level of skiing. The Track Attack program is for skiers that are committed to improving their skiing and fitness and who want an introduction to training and racing at the local level.

Biathlon Bears Programs

Biathlon air rifle program for ages 9-11 with a focus on skill development and fun. There is a mandatory joint participation in other XC ski programs.

Biathlon 2.0 – Recreational Biathlon (Winter)

This program is intended to provide biathlon skills development opportunities for 12-16 year old youth who do not want to or who haven’t yet decided to compete in biathlon.
