    UPDATE FOR SATURDAY:
Great start to a full weekend today with the U12 classic 2k interval race today! Canmore Track Attack did awesome and had a lot of fun! Those kids worked so hard!! I’ll post a few pics in a couple minutes.

First thing for tomorrow – PARKING- 🅿️- there will be over 700 athletes! Get there early. Be patient and kind! Don’t park in no parking areas.

WE ARE IN THE BIATHLON STADIUM TOMORROW. MEET AT WAX ROOM 2 (closest one to flag row in biathlon parking lot)

    Tomorrow’s Timing:
Start lists are posted: and there’s a bit more of a sleep in than previously posted schedule.
    https://zone4.ca/event/2026/xOLgAo/

Accordingly: u12 morning qualifier – girls start at 10:10 – so be ready for warm up at 9…. But we will head out at 915.

U12 boys start at 10:20 – so we will do the warmup all together. Be ready for 9 and warm up 9:15.

U10/U8 – obstacle course starts at 11. So arrive at 9:30 – get bib – meet at 10. warm up 10:15. Either myself or another coach or parent will be there. Obstacle course is between biathlon range and first hill on banff trail.

Afternoon ladder for u12 start at 1:20. Warm up starts 12:30.

It’s a skate ski day! Come with skis ready to ski on. For the obstacle course can be classic or skate – whatever your kid wants.

    Hope that covers it.

Hold onto your hats! This weekend is gonna be a BIG weekend of racing! I hope you are all as pumped as I am.

This post includes (very good) preliminary information (which I stole the formatting from Coach Trevor… can you tell). I’ll update times after the Team Captains Meeting (TCM) on Thursday evening if there are any significant changes in times!

    🧼 Waxing Plan

    • Classic skis (U12 Friday):
      • Skis should be glide waxed (tips and tails – if you please) at home
      • Kick zone clean, sanded, and taped
      • labelled with athletes name and category
    • Skate skis (U10 & U12 Saturday & Sunday):
      • Please arrive with skis ready to ski on – ie. glide waxed at home
      • Glide Wax: PS6

    🛠 Important:

Do not stress about the waxing – … it does not make or break anything at this age!
ALSO – we’re aiming to collect the classic skis on thursday – the day before the race if you have them ready (if not, friday morning at 11am is ok too, since you are doing glide waxing at home)

    • Thursday night practice: (in skate skis, 5:15-6:15 – pre-skiing the courses)
      • Please bring your classic skis to hand in if you are racing on friday (if ready)

    🎯 Goals for the Weekend

My goal for your kids this weekend: is to get them excited about the sport, and help them understand the flow of race days regarding warm up, nutrition, rest, and being organized.

How? The atmosphere on race day – particularly saturday – will be awesome! (Parking will be terrible) Get there early. Bring snacks / water / warm clothes – … all can be kept in the biathlon building! Stay positive – and keep the pressure off! I really don’t care about results – I want the kids to have fun, and cheer each other on. I know they will all try there hardest on the course!

We will warm up as a team an hour before the races for about 20 -30 min. Kids will then have a chance to get “race ready” (bathroom, snack, race clothes on)  – before heading to coral. I’ll try and be in the coral answering questions and making sure they get to start line.

    🗓 Schedule

    Thursday – Race Prep

    • Meet: Top of FlagRow at 5:15 – 6:15 PM
    • Plan:

    Friday – Classic Individual Start

    U8/U10 – Obstacle Course

Currently scheduled for 11:00. Arrive 9:45ish. Pick up Bib. Warm up at 10. Race will be in the field between the biathlon range and the penalty loop. No timing / places at this age… and is THE BEST to watch!

    U12 Sprint Day

    • Format: Qualifier + ladder-style heats- Keep your bib all day
    • Location: Biathlon area
    • Course: Very similar to the AB Cup course we raced in December
    • Timing (updated on Friday after TCM):
      • Qualifiers at 10:10 AM (girls) and 10:20 AM (boys)

    Sunday

    U8/U10 Ladder Style King’s Court 3x100m

Proposed start is 12:30. Very subject to adjustment. This will be in the Main stadium. Athletes randomly divided into heats, but then will move up or down based on finish – so will end up racing others of the same speed. Again – very fun to watch!

Plan to arrive 11am, and warm up around 11:30.

    U12 Mass Start Skate

    • Race: Mass start skate
    • Course: 2 × 750m

Hope that covered most of your questions. I’ll update this with any significant changes – and in the evening before each race day, will post arrival times and start times to WhatsApp group.

    Let’s GO!! ❄️
