    Hello,
It has been a beautiful summer in the Bow Valley with some nice rain showers keeping our forest green, but not everywhere is as lucky. The wildfire smoke season is upon us again. Below are the recommendations for training in the smoke:

As a guideline and using the Calgary air quality index (the closest forecast to us): http://weather.gc.ca/airquality/pages/abaq-002_e.html
-If it’s moderate risk or greater (4+) -> no intensity outside. Maximum of 1.5 hours outside if it’s low intensity training
-If it’s high risk (7+) -> no training outside at all.

Keep in mind smoke conditions can change quickly over short distances and can vary considerably hour-by-hour. So if you start a session, don’t be afraid to cut it short if the smoke rolls in, or wait to train. Typically it is less smoky in the mornings, but every day is different. Your lungs are important for skiing, so let’s keep them healthy.

As always, check the forum before training for updates as we may have to adjust/ cancel sessions.

    Training this week:
Monday(13) 9:00-10:30 LC/LC+ Classic Rollerski, meet at the teamroom
4:15-5:30 LC+ Strength. Meet at the BWTC

Tuesday(14) 9:00-11:00 TT/LC//LC+ Distance Run at CNC. Meet at the teamroom. Be sure to have a bar in your drinkbelt as we will be running for 2 hours today.

Wednesday(15) The smoke is very bad this morning all across the bow valley. Sunshine is as bad as here in town which is an estimated AQHI of 8 to 10 according to the Calgary forecast. So, No hike. We will do the following indoor workout instead:

9:00-10:15 LC/LC+/RAD Aerobics and light circuit strength at the BWTC

Thursday(16) 10:00-11:30 LC/LC+ The smoke is thick again this morning. Avoid outdoor activity if possible. We will meet at the BWTC at 10am for an indoor warm up and strength.
