Mark NaylorKeymasterHi U14’s
Great work by each of you this weekend out in Kimberley, Caitlin and I were both quite impressed by how you guys were looking especially on your classic days going up against a course that tough! I hope you all have seen your hard work paying off for you in your abilities and performance!
As the Chelsea Exchange will be taking up the bulk of our week, I’ve expanded this forum to include the next week as well to get a good picture up until Red Deer AB Cup 7/8.

Saturday(15) Long Distance Classic Time Trial. Start @ 3:30
In preparation for Nationals and to replace the Red Deer races we will do a Mass Start Classic Time Trial today on the Olympic 5km course (your course for Nationals). This is optional and only reccomended if you have good energy and health coming off the exchange.
Glide Wax your classic race skis with Swix polar, or whatever cold green wax you have in your wax box and drop them off in the team room at Noon on Saturday.
The time trial is open to all Canmore Nordic Members U14 and older. Parents, have at it as long as you are a registered club member for insurance purposes (but you are on your own for waxing, base binder with Extra Blue will probably be amazing). We will have 2 starts: Male, Female.
Distances:
U14- 5km (1 Lap)
U16- 10km (2 Laps)
U18 and older -15km (3 Laps)
Masters/parents- your choice.Timeline:
Arrive at least 1hr before your start for a proper warm up, check in at the teamroom, collect your bib. You can wax your warm up skis at home with extra blue.
3:30- All Males Race Start
3:35- All Female Race StartAs athletes complete their distance (1, 2, or 3 laps), then go through the finish.
Bring a change of clothes, immediate snack for after.
15km racers- This is an opportunity to practice taking feeds. Coaches will have a Gatorade feed for you at the end of lap 1 and 2 on the flat before going under the bridge. You do not need a feed for 15km, but once again, a good opportunity to practice.
Pizza Party/Social:
After the time trail, we will all get together in the North end of the day lodge (close to BWTC) for pizza and socializing until 5:25 when the day lodge closes. Put your name down on this list by Friday Night so Matt knows how many pizzas to order. Bring $5 cash. - Alberta Youth Champs! This is coming up and registration is now open.
