Great day of racing out there team! Solid efforts in the qualifier and lots of awesome skiing in the heats. It is fun working those tactics and really challenging yourself at your limits to ski as fast and hard as possible. The Nordic Canada Race Director was impressed with the sportsmanship out there combining racing hard, but being polite in the finish pen as well if there was any accidental contact out there on course.
Weather… -3 for a low, +4 by the afternoon, mostly sunny
Mass Start with some large fields:
Open MEN (U20 & Senior)- you have 134 racers in your category! Chips will be available at 8:30, so you can go early to grab your chip to reduce congestion at collection.
The finish will be busy, leave it all out there on the course, but leave the drama at home for the epic collapse. We can’t have a heap of bodies lying on the ground in the finish zone. Hang on your poles, wipe the snot off your face, and be proud of your solid effort out there.
5 tracks at the start for the chevron. You need to stay in your track til it ends (unless there is a crash in front of you). Then use all the terrain you like to work through the field. There is a good amount of racing out there, so don’t feel like you need to win it in the first 200M. Start aggressive, but remember to build throughout your race.
Bibs in the team room, Skis ready on the wall as you are all used to.
Final day of a solid 3 days of racing. You should be tired, but that’s how you know you have done something rad. All your competitors are tired too. With all your training to this point in the year, you are in an amazing place to have a ripper tomorrow. Let’s get out there and finish off Trials/Westerns with a bang!
