Hello Racers,
Day 1 of Trials!
Weather: Forecasts have been quite inaccurate this year, but a few are calling for -5 overnight with race time temps around -4 for women and -1 for the men. Partly cloudy and light wind from the West.
Course:
3×3.3km, 2 tracks all the way around the course tomorrow
Technique zone on the last hill of the course, as we are used to.
Red Vboards will delineate start and end of turning zones. Finish your turn by the Vboards
Generally, keep skis parallel unless you are changing direction.
Focus on smooth, powerful skiing out there with good glide. Lots of nice striding on this course.
Course closes at 9:55. Warm up out on the biathlon race trails.
King/Queen of the mountain for the climb and descent, similar to Nationals. Fun bonus race in the race.
Sadly, there has been an increase in poor behavior out there, primarily from coaches. There will be a $250 fine for unsportsmanlike behavior. Please be respectful out there as you always are. And better yet, thank a volunteer or 2!
Awards for top 6 in the category. The goal is award presentations 45 min after the completion of the race at the West end of the day lodge on flag row.
We recommend to arrive 1:15 before your start. Warm up wax with Rode multi-grade violet.
Start times on Zone4. The jury made a slight change for the men’s start to allow some men to ski the course after the women’s race is over. Women start at 10:00, Men at 12:00. Course will re open from 11:30-11:55.
