    Hello fellow CNSC skiers. We would like to remind everyone to be vigilant when training this summer/fall. There are large creatures in the forests at this time of year, and rollerkiing or road biking has it’s share of perils as well. Please use good judgment while training:

    IN THE FOREST:
    * Never use an MP3 player while training. You need to be alert to your surroundings.
    * Always carry pepper spray.
    * Reduce the chance of surprising a bear. Look for recent bear sign such as tracks, scats, fresh diggings, trampled vegetation or tree scratches (If you see any of these, be especially cautious).
    * Always check ahead for bears in the distance. If one is spotted, make a wide detour and leave the area immediately.
    * Make warning noises and loud sounds (loud talking or singing is better than using bells)
    * Stay clear of dead wildlife. Carcasses attract bears. Leave the area immediately!

    ON THE ROAD:
    * Never wear an MP3 player
    * Wear a bike helmet when cycling or rollerskiing
    * Wear bright clothes and a safety vest
    * Always train in a single file if in a group
