Biathlon – U16 & U18

FOCUS: Training and racing

A complete year-round training and racing program for youth aged 14 and older who have completed the U14 program or reached a comparable level of skiing/biathlon and training.

There are three streams available for this program. Full details here: U16 & U18 Streams for 2025-26

GROTTO: This program provides athletes the opportunity to develop their physical conditioning, ski technique, (biathlon shooting) in a training and racing environment. Team training on average 3x per week and support at up to 15 races a year. This is the perfect option if you have other sport or school commitments throughout the year making training 6 days a week unattainable.

RUNDLE: This program is designed for athletes who have chosen cross-country skiing or biathlon as a main sport.  All the aspects of the multi program plus more.  Team training on average 4x per week and supported at all races that are appropriate for development.  Expectations around attendance, consistently logging training, using a properly functioning heart rate monitor, and training on average 2x per week outside of team training.

CASCADE: This program is for U18 athletes (and older), that are wanting to dedicate extra efforts in certain areas of their development to help them reach higher levels in cross country or biathlon. Team training on average 5x per week primarily with additional strength training designed by a specialist, additional personalization of training plans, more coach communication, and individual sessions with a sport psychologist or nutritionist.

Special events and camps offered throughout the year for an additional fee. The U16 & U18 Racing Team travels and competes at the Nationals, Canada Cups, National Team Trials (when applicable), Western Canadian Championships, and Alberta Cup Series.
