    Hello U14s,

Great racing out there today! Many great experiences to learn from and awesome effort giving your best.  Mass start races can be quite chaotic, but many were able to stay calm through the storm. If you found yourself quite worked up/anxious that is something we can work on and improve in training.

Sunday will be a bit more simple with an interval start skate race.  It is you and the clock out there, so be sure you focus on yourself throughout our warm up to get in a good mindset for the race.

Weather: -12 overnight with a high of -9 mid day. Partly cloudy/chance of flurries.

The track rule is in effect being interval start. If you are passing, track early enough for someone to give way to the faster skier.  If you are tracked, respect the rule and give them space to pass, but don’t be afraid to stick to that racer and catch a ride.  The first 10 seconds are the hardest, but once you experience a faster pace you might realize you can hold that for the rest of your race.

Start lists are posted on Zone4 with 15 second interval starts all day.

As we covered on Friday, your race is 1 lap of the 3KM course (just an extra 500M from today’s course)

Most skis were dropped off today after the race, if not bring them by when you first arrive for us to give them an extra buff.

Awards will be at 3PM for U12-U18. Same place as today.

Boys: Arrive at the teamroom at 11AM to check in and collect your bib. We will all meet for a team warm up at 11:15.

Girls: Arrive at the teamroom 11:25AM to check in and collect your bib. We will all meet for a team warm up at 11:40.

An interval start race is a chance to see how hard you can push yourself and challenge yourself to get deep in that pain cave to leave everything on the course.  “Winning doesn’t always mean getting first place; it means getting the best out of yourself.” Meb Keflezighi
