    Hello U16/U18,

It has been a solid month of May for many athletes.  Keep up the good work and keep updating your training peaks to help us coaches analyze your training/measure fatigue.  With our 3,000M run coming up on Wednesday June 14 from 6pm-7pm at the Nakoda Elementary School Track, we will continue our focus on running throughout the spring.  This Wednesday’s intensity will be athlete driven based on your goal for your 3,000M time.  Here is the link to our previous 3,000M Data to help you with choosing a goal time.

Also this week we will have a special presentation by Katie Weaver (U of C student, 2023 World Senior Championship racer, and World Cup Academy athlete) about her experience with an eating disorder and Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome (RED-S).  This is an important topic in society and in endurance athletes.  It will be in the Haig Room on Tuesday (Females 4:45-5:45, Males 5:45-6:45) and all athletes in the U16/U18 program are invited (Multi, Primo, TTS-Dev).  Parents, we will be happy to share the presentation with you (send Matt an email if you would like a copy), but would like the athletes to have the opportunity to engage in the presentation which we see more of in smaller groups. As with all team events, attendance is optional, but we coaches see the value so want to provide you the opportunity.

    Other upcoming events this week:
Monday(29) @7PM– Canmore Nordic AGM at the BWTC. All club members invited.

Sunday(4) @6PM– Season Wrap up & Celebration of Alain’s long coaching career.

    Training this week:

    Tuesday(30)
Primo/TTS Dev strength in the BWTC -> Males 4:45-5:45, Females 5:45-6:45
Multi/Primo/TTS Dev Presentation by Katie -> Females 4:45-5:45, Males 5:45-6:45

    Wednesday(31)
    Multi/Primo/TTS Dev
4:45-6:16 Track Workout @ LGMS- Going for Speed
Today we will be running 300M repeats 10% faster than your 3,000M goal time.  They will be hard by the end, but it is a great workout, develops running form, and can help you achieve your goal. This will be a Z6 workout, so adjust your after school snack accordingly- ideally something light ~3pm.

    Thursday(1)
    TTS Dev
    5:00-6:00 Strength with Chelsea- Females
    6:00-7:00 Strength with Chelsea- Males
Just strength tonight, no extra Z2 planned.

“My comfort zone is like a little bubble around me, and I’ve pushed it in different directions and made it bigger and bigger until these objectives that seemed totally crazy eventually fall within the realm of the possible.” -Alex Honnold
