    Hello U14,

Just like that, we are into our 3rd week of fall training!  Great work so far being prepared for sessions with the correct equipment and proper clothing for the weather.  It is getting to be fall, and the temperatures are cooling off in the evenings, so it is about time to bring your Canmore Nordic jackets (or rain jacket if the weather is poor) to training.  If you are too warm, it is easy to tie it around your waist.  If your body is fighting to stay warm by shivering rather than enjoying the training, that doesn’t make the session very fun.  That is a recipe to get sick as well, so look at the weather and dress appropriately.

I shared the Kimberley Camp Trip Document.  If you are signed up for the camp and didn’t receive it, please email Matt.

While parking is limited at CNC during construction, please park/ drop off in P2 (between the Bill Warren Training Centre and Trail sports) or P1 (Main parking lot under the big Canadian Flag).  Parking in front of the Bill Warren is only for users of the gym at that time.

    Training this week:

    Monday(19) Ski Striding @ CNC
5:00-6:30 Ski striding is kind of running with poles up a hill to simulate classic skiing.  We will get into the specifics at the session, but you need your running shoes and ski poles. Ideally a pole that is 80% of your height.  For many of you, that is last year’s classic pole as you are growing.  It doesn’t have to be perfect, but in the area.  You can always use your current classic poles .  Meet at the flags.

    Tuesday(20) Skate Rollerski @ CNC
5:00-6:30 Skate Rollerskiing.  We will be diving into offset technique and continuing the fundamentals to get comfortable on the skis.  Meet at the teamroom.

    Thursday(22) Biathlon @ CNC
4:45-6:15 Biathlon training.  Meet at the teamroom.

    Saturday(24) Run @ Meander Trail/Harvie Heights
1:00-3:00 Distance run on the Montane Trail, Microwave Drop, and Meander Trail.  Directions to the trailhead here.  Bring your drink belt and a snack for the distance day.

Thank you parents for signing up to tail gun, it really helps these Saturday sessions run smoothly.  As I am getting to know the athletes, it seems 1 parent is sufficient, but we can have up to 3 running at the tail of the group.  One note, for insurance purposes, everyone partaking in sessions (coaches, parents, athletes) must be club members.  So if you sign up to tail gun, please ensure you have registered with the club’s general membership.
